There are various definitions of overweight from different authorities:

Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health.

Body mass index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used to classify overweight and obesity in adults. It is defined as a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of his height in meters (kg/m2).


The WHO definition is:


a BMI finer than or equal to 25 is overweight

a BMI bigger than or equivalent to 30 is obesity.

BMI provides the most useful population-level measure of overweight and obesity as it is the identicle for both sexes and for all ages of adults. Definitions for Adults

An adult who has a BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight.

An adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese.

Extreme Makeover has abounded 10.80 million viewers. It is Hollywood television program  producer Howard Schultz for extreme weight loss. It was stated in 2002 total  55 episodes were telecasted of extreme weight loss.

It is a reality show to makeover men and women with various tactics to do an extreme makeover such as performing plastic surgery, exercise,  ward-probing and hairdressing to change the makeover.

We are awaiting for new version of ABC's extreme makeover for the weight-loss program.
